Throughout the course of the series, our goal is to provide a multitude of resources to help you Get Your Chops Back - songs will be accompanied by audio files to hear the music more clearly, and percussion and vocal parts will be made into separate tracks. In some cases, every individual part will be available as a separate audio file for you to practice/learn (conga patterns, vocal harmonies, etc.). If needed, some music notation will also be available as well.
Get Your Chops Back (GYCB) is a series of learning workshops in a stress-free, non-judgmental environment for adult recreational musicians with prior music-making experience/basic playing skills and who have not made music for a while.
Afro-Cuban Jam:
Familiarity with reading music is helpful but not required. Music will be shared in the aural tradition i.e. listen, imitate, and learn. Drummers, kindly provide your own conga drum (sorry, no other drums please); for singers, prior experience can be in any vocal style.
